In the last blog, we were introduced to the lack of access to safe drinking water in the Yenadi Sangham and various villages in Bapatla. Since that update, there have been several Access to Water kiosks that were put in place by Ravi-garu of SFIRD along with RH.

The second delivery of the 4000 liter water truck to the Yenadi Sangham took place on April 24, 2025 and was very eagerly received by the people. The truck made its rounds to supply water to every tent in the encampment. Santha Kumari, the Childcare Center Facilitator, ensured that every household had a proper supply of water.

Thanks to the Access to Water program and Santha Kumari's persistence, children from the Yenadi Sangham are now bathing regularly and washing their clothes. Santha Kumari noted that personal hygiene is slowly improving due to the supply of clean water.
Healthy and nutritional food is distributed everyday to 25 children and some pregnant women. These include malt with millets, uppuma (made with semolina, curry leaves, and spices), tamarind rice, and sambar (a lentil stew).
This food distribution is also made available to the older kids who go to the Mandal Prashad Primary School. These children typically receive midday meals at school but they are currently on summer break until June 12th.
The SFIRD staff along with Ravi-garu are constantly on site to encourage the families at Yenadi Sangham concerning the importance of sending their children to the Mother and Childcare Centre and the importance of hygiene – especially now that they have access to safe and clean drinking water.
It is often said that wherever there is a constant supply of water, there is always life and life will flourish — like the Nile that contributed to the development of Egyptian civilization. Although the supply of water at the Yenadi Sangham is not natural, we are definitely seeing the changes that the presence of water is bringing about. We hope that in the long term this will change the trajectory of every single person's life.
“Little drops of water, little grains of sand, make the mighty ocean and the pleasant land. So the little moments, humble though they be, make the mighty ages of eternity.... Little deeds of kindness, little words of love, help to make earth happy, like the heaven above.” — Julia Abigail Fletcher Carney
