Providing Flood Assistance for Yenadis at Naidupet

Updated: Oct 11, 2024

ree

On September 23rd, Restoration Humanity (RH) along with Society For Integrated Rural Development (SFIRD) distributed blankets and mosquito nets to the Yenadis at Naidupet, our target group. Eight of the 20 families were displaced because of the recent floods that started on the September 2, 2024. Those that were displaced found safety and shelter in the newly renovated Primary School in Ambedkar Nagar, and at the Jindal Urban Waste Management's Shelter. [Read about how RH and SFIRD renovated the school resulting in a new start and progress in educational efforts.]

▲ Ambedkar Nagar is where the newly renovated Primary School is located. This community is made of Yenadis who have received government assistance to build houses and a school. They are about 700 yards away from the target group of Yenadis who live in the makeshift tents.

On the day prior, September 1st, SFIRD and Dr. Rama Rao shared the wonderful update that the children had fully recuperated from the dermatitis. It is astonishing to think about the challenges these families face – from dealing with dermatitis to being affected by the floods.

▼ Below are some pictures of the distribution that took place on September 23rd.

Our next step is to provide sanitation kits to the children (toothpaste & tooth brush,  coconut oil, soap & powder) to promote and encourage personal hygiene and well-being.

Restoration Humanity and Society For Integrated Rural Development would like to thank everyone that gave towards the Yenadi people of Naidpet. Your giving has made a difference in these precious people's lives, whether it was the school, the medical clinic, the follow-up care for the children or the distribution of supplies for the survivors of the flood .

We would like to leave you with these words that were articulated by the formidable Mother Teresa:

"It is not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving."
