Indian Independence Day Celebrations at the Yenadi Sangham
Independence Day is observed every year on 15 August as a public holiday in India, marking the country's liberation from British rule on 15 August 1947. India gained independence after a movement characterized by largely peaceful resistance and civil disobedience, spearheaded by the Indian National Congress under Mahatma Gandhi's leadership.
Independence Day is observed throughout India with flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades and cultural events. It is a national holiday in the country.
At the Yenadi Sangham, the celebration included a flag hoisting ceremony and the singing of the national anthem at the Mother and Child Care Center (MCCC). This year Indian celebrated her 79th year as an independent nation.

World Humanitarian Day Celebrations
The United Nations has designated 19 August as World Humanitarian day. To commemorate this, representatives of several NGOs gathered at the Yenadi Sangham to distribute clothing and snacks from the MCCC.

SFIRD Recognized for its effectiveness in humanitarian efforts
The Bapatla District Headquarters Collectorate selected five NGOs to receive awards commemorating their service and devotion to humanitarian efforts. Among these five was SFIRD.

We at Restoration Humanity are truly honored to partner and collaborate with SFIRD. Without their support, none of the efforts at the Yenadi Sangham over the past year would have been possible. It has been a year since we first met SFIRD and it has truly been a year of learning, partnering, and working through issues and problems. We are certain that this partnership will continue to be fruitful and that little by little we can bring about a change that will one day liberate the Yenadis from their current plight and condition. Thank you Uncle Ravi and everyone at SFIRD for truly making the world a better place.
I leave you with this quote as uttered by the great Mother Teresa:
A life not lived for others is not a life. If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one. — Mother Teresa
Thank you for being a part of this inspiring journey!
