On October 7, 2024, Dr. Rama Rao and representatives from Society For Integrated Rural Development (SFIRD) visited the newly renovated school, for the first of what will be monthly clinics for the Yenadi Sangam at Naidupet.
Dr. Rao identified that the primary problem stemmed from inadequate cleanliness and hygiene practices. He emphasized the importance to both children and parents of changing their clothes every two days, as many were wearing the same dirty and soiled garments for over a week. The children, especially, were in clothes that were caked with dirt from playing in contaminated water and covered in potentially harmful pollutants picked from the trash surrounding them.

▲ Vitamin supplements, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap and antiseptic creams were distributed. Each child was given a plastic box with the supplies.

Another contributing factor was the lack of regular baths to wash away the toxic particulates from their skin. The only way to bring change is through consistent counseling and follow up with the parents and children on the importance of personal hygiene, to the best that they can do considering the conditions they live in.
A one-month supply "health kit" was given to each child comprising of toothpaste, a toothbrush, coconut oil, disinfectant soap, and powder. About 30 kits were handed out to the children.

Restoration Humanity and SFIRD would like to thank all of you for the support and kindness shown towards these precious people. The amount of change we need to see in this particular situation is quite honestly, large, and feels titanic in proportion, almost impossible. Sometimes we need to come to terms with the fact that we can be the change that we are looking for!
I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples. — Mother Teresa
So let's together affect a change wherever we are, whenever we can and however possible. A little effort sends a ripple across the pond, as it were; you will never know the effect of a small action.
